The story begins some 5000 years ago, following the establishment of the Assyrian and Hammurabi empires, with the enshrinement in law of new patriarchal rules of law, societal norms, and property driven rights, reserved for men — the consequent demotion of the Goddesses across the western world, and subsequently in the East and South too (although less so).
The demotion of the Godesses, finally saw the end of egaliatarian societies where humans self-organised and gender roles were not so relevant, as each did to her ability what was required and creativity was the dominant force, especially driven by female energy and non-gender defined boundaries of creative communities, to worked together to solve common challenges.
As such, this led to the Judaic Abrahamic tribes, who were the dominant powerful jewish rulers, to take the hamurabi laws even further. With Abraham, began the full resignation of women as second class citizens, with the three societal starta allocated to her:
The WIFE
The Concubine/Mistress
The Whore/Prostitute
Abrahamic laws, initially described in the Genesis (book of Moses), relegated the woman as the offspring of the man, with Abraham at the top — with his sacred ‘seed’, to impregnate the woman, so he can bear him children, as his WIFE, to pass on inheritance of the property (to the oldest Son), and subsequently the diminished rights of the other classes of women. Such barbaric ideas were professed, as the women is to accompany the man, that she comes from his ribs, that he ate the APPLE or PEAR for being enticed by the SNAKE (Kundalini feminine energy), which was suppressed and subjugated to prison or state sponsored murder/torture, etc.
Although at the start, with territorial and colonial expansion, the ruling tribes raped and pillaged and ploughed through territories, the men were initially killed and the women and children abducted, so they could be traded as wives, virgins and child labour/sexual abuse and so on.
Subsequently, after the subjugation of the WOMAN, the tribesmen found similar ways to enslave men, but this time, through WORK, by giving them work and exploiting them in exchange for food — as they increasingly took over regional food production and monopolosed/oligopolised control over land, food and resources. This way they also controlled the population, whom by force, were subjects of human resources, to be used by the employer.
Although the nature of WORK has changed over the centuries and especially in the last several decades, since industrialisation, with collective organising and bargaining, the emergence of womens and human rights movements and organisations, and also the third sector (civil society organisations) which were non profit organisations aiming to solve the externalities created by the 1st and 2nd sectors — the 1st being the centralised gverning forces, while the 2nd being the Merchantile/capitalist burgoise who were increasingly taking control of the markets and resourecs, including employment.
Civil Society action led to some degree of liberation and general recognition of abuses of the ruling elite; especially regarding the emergence of CORPORATIONS, which became government/state vehicles for exploiting the riches of colonial powers and the government on the other hand collecting taxes and enslaving the populations, under the guise of the ‘FATHER’, PATRE, the PATRIA and of course the state, ruled by the KING and the church/mosque/synagogue, as the sanctions GOD given right to RULE.
So examples of the syndicates demanding more workers rights, ending child labour, or David Thoreau’s pacific CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE which ended the segregation in the United States, as we knew it, ending Black oppression as second class citizens (officially), although this continued till today in other forms, as discrimination or state abuse (e.g. the prisons in the US are filled majority with black inmates), which itself is an industry, as is the arms trade.
In fact the largest industries in today’s reported economy (white visible economy) and combined with the Dark Economy (the hidden non-transparent economy), which essentially thrives on the following:
Arms trade and warfare
Human/child trafficking and prostitution
Illicit drugs trade
All controlled globally by the ruling elite. Therefore, if we combine the two economies (white and black), with all natural resources and human resources controlled by the ruling class, through corporations, the state and influencing special interest groups (lobbies), which define self-fulfilling laws, and keep the majority in the web of the dark forces — the so called ‘MATRIX`, and the prison of WORK through precarious EMPLOYMENT.
In general, entrepreneurship is shunned and thought for ‘special people’, as The ‘Westfalian’ State approach prefers ‘slaves’, now in the modern ‘evolved’ form, as workers, (whether corporate or civil servants), who are under the control of the ruling elite, even if they don’t contribute much to value add or productivity. However efficiency and productivity for PROFIT, is given the highest priority over and above the people and the PLANET which SUSTAINS LIFE — having breached PLANETARY LIMITS and abused our SOCIETAL FOUNDATIONS. It is well documented that Corporations were born as an arm of the State for exploitation and colonisation (see East India Company, and the book ‘Corporation).
Creativity and ‘righ-brain’ activity is also repressed, as rationalised masculine dominance rules and is rewarded with the ‘highest PAY’.
So in today’s high-pace super industrial neo-liberal capitalism GLOBAL WORLD ORDER (globalisation of the ELITE), almost all value created is exploited and extracted through a handful of Institutional Funds, as Blackrock, Vanguard, and Blackstone, working through the biggest financial hub in the world, City of London Corporation, who send the funds to fiscal paradises (tax havens), who control TRILLIONS of DOLLORS worth of assets, and decide how to reinvest this common value, for their own perverse and socio-pathic ends, i.e. profit maximisation at all costs (RACE TO THE BOTTOM), at the loss of all of US (99%), and nature (biodiversity, climatic systems, oceans, soils, species), which has led to systemic ecological crisis, potential collapse, and the emergence of the so called geological age of the ANTHROPOCENE: the Sixth Mass Extinction event.
It is ironical that we, the 99% who are not in the driving seat, are held responsible and expected to act — whereas Corporate Responsibility is reduced to ridiculous ESG reporting, White-Washing, Green-Washing, Smoke and Mirrors of all sorts, especially misinformation and distractive psychological techniques, deprivation of true spirituality and emotional intelligence (through Parenting and by Schooling, or simply dogmatic opressive laws) — which perpetuate the current system and have led to the three mass divides: Ecological (Self-Nature), Societal (Self-Other), and Spiritual (self-SELF) — therefore societal polarisation, divide and rule tactics, and the highest suicide rates and demoralisation, especially amongst youth, women and marginalised communities or minorities.
So, as a result through several years of research and co-creation, humannation’s was set up in 2020 (during COVID-19 crisis and fraud, which made Pfizer the wealthiest company in history, funnelling the riches to the few sitting in their fiscal paradises (Barbados, Cayman Islands, Luxemburg, The City, etc.) — through the same institutional funds and VCs, to the Elite 1%.
From BAU to Green, then Sustainability — which remains unsustainable
Sustainability is not enough. We need to further to restore, reopair and regenerate the damage done over the last especially 200 years of industrial expoitation of the planet, species and persons.
From Unsustainable Practices to Regenerative Culture: A Multi-Layered Shift
The transition involves a complex dance between established structures and emerging movements. Let’s break it down:
From Business as Usual to Sustainability:
Unsustainable practices: This is the “business as usual” scenario, driven by short-term profits and neglecting environmental and social impacts. Greenwashing (creating a false image of sustainability) and whitewashing (covering up negative practices) are tactics used here. Corporate interests and institutional funds often prioritize shareholder returns over long-term sustainability. Tax havens further erode responsibility.
Sustainability: This is the first step towards a more responsible future. It focuses on minimizing negative impacts and maintaining a balance between economic growth, environmental protection, and social well-being. Here, the focus shifts to the “Triple Bottom Line” — social, environmental, and economic factors.
Beyond Sustainability: The Rise of Regenerative Culture:
Ecological, Societal and Personal Divides: Unsustainable practices create ecological damage, societal inequality, and personal disconnection from nature and community. This can lead to a sense of “unsustainable psychosis,” a feeling of isolation and anxiety amidst environmental degradation.
Regenerative Culture: This is a paradigm shift, moving beyond just minimizing harm to actively restoring and improving ecological and social systems. It emphasizes co-creation, collaboration, and a deep connection with nature.
Approaches to Change:
Top-Down (4-Helix Model): This approach involves collaboration between governments, businesses, universities, and civil society. The EU’s circular economy strategy, incorporating regenerative elements, is an example. This can be effective for large-scale change but may lack responsiveness to local needs.
Bottom-Up (Grassroots Movements): This involves citizen-led initiatives, community development projects, and activism. Place-based, community-conscious development, co-design and co-creation 4.0, and the “Four Returns” (giving back to society, environment, culture, and self) are all examples of bottom-up approaches. They are strong in addressing local needs but may struggle to gain wider traction.
The EU and the Three Horizons Model:
EU Policies: The EU’s circular economy strategy with regenerative elements is a positive step. However, as the IFF Three Horizons model suggests, it is not enough. The Three Horizons model proposes three horizons: Horizon 1 (current unsustainable practices), Horizon 2 (bridge to a sustainable future), and Horizon 3 (regenerative future, through deep transition and systemic profound re-design and redevelopment). The EU strategy might be addressing Horizon 2 but is not transformative enough to fully reach Horizon 3, which requires a deeper cultural shift and awareness.
THE FUTURE
A successful transition to a regenerative future likely needs a combination of both top-down and bottom-up approaches. EU policies can provide a framework, while citizen-led initiatives can drive innovation and ensure local needs are met. By fostering collaboration and prioritizing long-term well-being, we can move away from unsustainable practices and create a more thriving and regenerative future for all.
From Sustainability to Regeneration — a deeper look
A regenerative society prioritizes living in harmony with nature. Local resilient economies and self-sufficient societies 4.0 are two concepts that contribute to this goal. Local economies focus on meeting local needs with local resources, while self-sufficient societies leverage technology for the same purpose.
The EU supports these concepts through Local Living Labs (LLLs) and Clusterization. LLLs are real-world experiments for innovative solutions, while Clusters are groups working together towards a shared objective. These initiatives help by sharing knowledge, reducing risks, and building momentum for wider adoption.
humannation, therefore co-created a vision and mission (with it’s members and partners), at EU level, to develop new clusters and ecosystems, through local PLACE-Based Living Labs, to propagate best practices, systems, methods, tools, and above all CULTURE (philosophy, awareness, beliefs and consciousness) — which is achieved through initially the D-SKOOL R4 programmes, which is implemented through several innovation funded projects — presented as profound 4-Helix Cluster innovation and deep-transformation projects — aimed at developing POST-PATRIARCHAL communities at the local and regional levels (bypassing the STATE, which is under elite rule), through collective action, cooperation, collaboration, co-design, co-creation and subsequently co-development of new ecosystems, restorations of nature (especially soil and decarbonisation, circularity and frugal use of resources), as well as human empowerment, through co-creativity and co-HEALING.
Through this approach, several leading/emerging methods, and new organisational models, as Theory-U of the Presencing Institute, (U-LAB), and other methods; Social Presencing, 3D mapping, Future Casting and Mediative/Reflexive techniques, Trauma Healing and Self-development, Spiritual Practices (self owned and collective, free belief systems) — and ultimately the development of anarchic decentralised and democratised, distributive proximity economies, which trade freely and openly (open source peer-to-peer exchanges), through collective organisations, as cooperatives, associations, alliances, joint venture, and other collectives, or impact driven organisations (SMEs), working together to address common societal challenges, through CO-INNOVATION and UN-LEARNING/RE-LEARNING — towards the emerging future, addressing root-causes and being present in the reality of today’s world.
In PRACTICE — Post-Patriarchal, Anarchic Grassroots Living Labs: Upending the Status Quo
Let’s dive into post-patriarchal, anarchic grassroots living labs and how they challenge the current system:
Let’s first briefly describe the Core Tenets:
Post-Patriarchal: These communities reject hierarchical structures that favor men and promote collective decision-making and power-sharing.
Anarchic: They operate outside traditional state control, focusing on self-governance and autonomy.
Grassroots: They are led by citizen initiatives, fostering a strong sense of community ownership.
Place-Based: They emphasize local solutions, using local resources and addressing specific needs of their place.
Living Labs: These communities function as experiments in sustainable living, constantly learning and adapting.
Examples:
Ecovillages: Intentional communities worldwide that prioritize ecological and social sustainability. Examples include The Farm https://thefarmcommunity.com/ (US) and Sieben Linden https://siebenlinden.org/en/ (Germany).
Transition Towns: Communities working together to become more resilient in the face of peak oil and climate change. Totnes in the UK is a well-known example https://www.transitiontowntotnes.org/.
Collaborative Economies: Initiatives like community-supported agriculture (CSA) create networks of producers and consumers who work together for a more equitable food system.
Upending the Current System:
These living labs challenge the status quo (State Driven Corporate neo-liberal globalised psychosis) in several ways:
Reduced Reliance on Corporate Control: By producing their own food, energy, and goods, these communities become less reliant on corporations and global supply chains.
Decentralized Decision-Making: They demonstrate alternative models of governance that are more democratic and responsive to local needs.
Challenge to Consumerism: Living simply and focusing on sufficiency over excess consumption disrupts the economic model based on constant growth.
Redefining Gender Roles: Many of these communities actively dismantle traditional patriarchal structures, promoting equality and shared leadership.
Criticisms and Challenges:
Scalability: It can be challenging to scale up these initiatives to have a broader impact.
Financial Sustainability: Finding sustainable funding sources can be difficult, especially when breaking away from traditional economic models.
Social Conflict: Living in close quarters with diverse viewpoints can lead to disagreements and require strong conflict resolution mechanisms.
Overall, post-patriarchal, anarchic grassroots living labs offer a glimpse into a future beyond the current system. While they face challenges, they provide valuable examples of alternative ways of living that are more ecological, socially just, and empowering.
